dsd marmot  About the Project

To support the sustainable development in Hong Kong, Drainage Services Department commenced the project of ‘Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns’ after several rounds of public engagement and consultation.

The construction works was commenced in February 2019, the project is expected to be completed in the year of 2031.

The relocation of existing Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works (STSTW) to caverns could greatly improve the environment of the existing STSTW site and its surroundings, on the other hand, the project will release about 28 hectare of land for other beneficial uses
